The new school year is beginning today for my grandsons, so I'm happy to share with you an idea to help you both encourage your grandchildren (of any age and in any location) and hand down a heritage of confident faith to them as well. Now, I know I shared this idea before, but with the start of school, if you did not try this idea in the past, now is the perfect time to do so.We know God hears, listens to, and answers our prayers - praying is the most powerful thing we are able to do for our loved grandchildren, so, this idea which I found on Pinterest is a great way to help us focus upon praying intentionally over the coming school year.
Just follow this link for the details, but basically you need to trace the hands of each of your grandchildren (or ask them - or their parents to trace their hands and mail them to you). Then ask God for a verse you may pray for each grandchild for the coming year; write this verse on one side of their handprint and some specific requests from them on the other side. Put the handprints in your Bible or where you will see them each day and then use them to pray the specific Scripture for your grandchildren all year long.
There is nothing more powerful or important which we as grandmas - and grandpas/parents - are able to do for our grandchildren than to entrust them into God's hands . . . there is no better place for them. As much as we love our grandchildren, God loves them infinitely more. Praying Scripture for each grandchild is powerful, because God's Word is powerful and does not return void. Selecting a specific Scripture verse for each grandchild, writing it on their handprint, and praying it for them each day is most certainly one of the best ideas I've found anywhere.
