Today is World Gratitude Day

Today is World Gratitude Day - and regardless of the difficult things we may be facing, or the frustrating things, we still have much for which to be thankful and when we are, we make our day - and the day of all around us - better!

Nationaltoday (dot) com says the point of this day is; "to remind us of the importance of expressing gestures of thanks and appreciation. Understandably, sometimes we can get caught up in our busy lives and neglect to show how grateful we are for the people around us. Many people believe once you commit a simple act of kindness for someone, you don’t need to manifest this kind of kindness repeatedly. But if you do, it makes the world a better place. After all, it’s your world, and you have to live in it!"

And, being grateful and thankful benefits our health - look at this . . .

  • Reduces depression
  • Contributes to heart health
  • Improves sleep
You will find more ways it is helpful at this link.

Certainly we want to help the children we love grow to be grateful and thankful people - if we model this they are much more likely to do the same. We are also able to help them learn by involving them in opportunities to show their thanks to teachers, firefighters, people who are kind to them, etc.

So, gather the ones you love and come up with a project you are all able to work on to show your appreciation to others - bake cookies, make a picture, go do some yard work or simple house cleaning to help someone, fix a meal and take it to them - see what you can come up with and then do it! Today - and every day is a a great day to be grateful - with our words and actions!
