Book Review - Dog Man Grime & Punishment

When my youngest grandson was in First Grade he was not a fan of reading. He was absolutely certain he would never read unless he had to do so for school. In fact, I did hear, more than once, he hated reading! This was until he walked into my house one day during covid for his virtual school with grandma while his parents were at work, and saw the new Dog Man book sitting on my table. He picked it up, started reading, and spent every break, reading - he read the first six chapters and told me, "I actually do love reading!" Today I am extremely happy to let you know about this book - especially if you have a boy in your life who does NOT like reading!

Dog Man Grime & Punishment

Author/Illustrator - Dav Pilkey

Publisher - Scholastic Press

Ages - Grades Two and up

Favorite Features -

  • Colorful comic book/graphic novel illustrations - my grandsons approve!
  • Silly story is fun to read - even for someone who says they will never want to read!
  • Solid messages which encourage children to make positive choices.
Scholastic says; "The mayor has had enough of Dog Man's shenanigans in the ninth book from worldwide bestselling author and artist Dav Pilkey. Dog Man's really done it this time! He hands over his badge and clears out his desk, but while he may be out of a job, he's not yet out of hope. With his friends at his side, can Dog Man dig himself out of this hole and paw his way back onto the force?

Dav Pilkey's wildly popular Dog Man series appeals to readers of all ages and explores universally positive themes, including empathy, kindness, persistence, and the importance of doing good."

I could not be happier with this book! I was so thrilled to have a book which captured the attention of my didn't-want-to-read grandson - as well as the attention of my older grandson who enjoys reading! Dog Man books make great gifts - at Christmas and any time!
