Delicious Family Favorites: modern homestyle cooking - A Tasty Christmas Gift

Do you have recipes in your family which have been handed down from one generation to another? Have any of your family members been able to save these tasty recipes? In my family we have had - and continue to have - excellent cooks and my sister - certainly one of the best of the excellent cooks - compiled recipes from our grandmas and other family members, added little family stories, along with recipes she developed and made a fantastic cookbook. Her cookbook - Delicious Family Favorites: modern homestyle cooking has 157 family-tested and approved recipes and is now equipping cooks in our family and other's families with tasty recipes which leave all who are blessed to eat the food, very happy and looking forward to the next meal!

To give you a "taste" of the recipes in , check this recipe for Loretta's take on a classic French onion soup for an amazing Pub Steak & Onion Soup. It's unbelievably quick and easy, but tastes like you cooked all day. You've got to try it!

Pub Steak & Onion Soup:
1/4 c extra virgin olive oil
2 lbs sirloin steak
2 t roasted granulated garlic
2-1/2 t pink Himalayan salt
1-1/2 t fresh ground pepper
2 T butter
2 Vidalia sweet onions sliced into rings
2 c portobello mushrooms quartered
3/4 c Malbec wine (red)
1/2 t thyme
1/2 t marjoram
1/2 t dill weed
1 T Ski's signature collection bourbon maple syrup
3/4 c Ski's maple syrup
48 oz beef broth
garnish with Provolone or Munster cheese slices and
garlic & butter croutons
Directions:
1. Cut steak to fit in a large 6 quart Dutch oven, if necessary. Sprinkle one side of each steak with garlic.
2. Heat oil in the Dutch oven over medium-high heat. When hot, place one piece of steak, garlic side down, into the kettle. Season with salt and pepper, then when it is flipped, sprinkle with additional garlic, sale, and pepper.
3. Cook the steak on each side until browned, but keep it "medium" (pink) on the inside. As steak cooks, remove each piece from the pan and set aside to rest.
4. Place the butter in the Dutch oven after the steak is removed, then add the onions and sautee them until caramelized.
5. Add the mushrooms, cooking until they are tender and lightly browned.
6. Deglaze the kettle with the red wine, scraping all of the bits of brown loose from the pan, then add the thyme, marjoram, and dill along with the maple syrups.
7. Add the beef broth and bring the soup to a light boil, reduce heat and simmer for ten minutes.
8. Cut up the steak into bite sized chunks, then scoop a serving into the bottom of each soup bowl.
9. Remove the soup from the heat and ladle it into each soup bowl over the steak. Top each bowl with a slice of cheese, garnish with croutons, and Enjoy!
