The Ten Commands From God's Own Hands

I'm so glad the internet makes it possible for us to add books to our  bookshelf or give as gifts which are no longer available in books stores! A book I absolutely love is The Ten Commands From God's Own Hands by Phil A. Smouse! This book takes the Ten Commandments, matches each commandment with a Bible adventure to illustrate a specific command and teach it's meaning, so kids will remember and learn! The "sub-title" is, "Ten wiggly, giggly Bible stories that teach God's Ten Commandments" - these ten accounts are -

  • Adam and Eve - I Am the Lord your God . . . you shall have no other gods before me
  • The Fiery Furnace - you shall not make for yourself an idol
  • The Story of David and Goliath - you shall not misuse the Name of the Lord
  • The Story of Creation - remember the Sabbath Day by keeping it holy
  • Abraham and Isaac - honor your father and your mother
  • My Brother's Keeper - you shall not murder
  • Joseph and Potiphar's Wife - you shall not commit adultery
  • Achan and the Walls of Jericho - you shall not steal
  • Daniel and the Lion's Den - you shall not give false testimony against your brother
  • Joseph's Beautiful Coat - you shall not covet anything which belongs to your neighbor
Each adventure is told with rhyming and humor to communicate ten familiar Bible adventures in a unique and effective way . . . I particularly appreciate how the book begins with an introduction explaining what the ten commandments are and why Jesus died for us. I cannot recommend this book highly enough - it is superb!  I like how it has ten Bible adventures in one book - this will be a book kids and grandparents - and parents, too - will love and learn from as each adventure is bound to generate lots of good conversation as everyone learns together about the Ten Commandments!
