It's Time to Think About Christmas - a Nativity Set for Each Child!

The first year my husband and I were married, he gave me a Precious Moments Nativity Set . . . this was 42 Christmases ago!

Twenty years ago, or so, I crocheted a Nativity set with crochet cotton - I wanted to be able to set it in my tree, because it is the reason we celebrate! (A few years ago when the boys decorated my tree, my oldest grandson put the shepherd on it's back looking up, so it could "see" all the lights! He is a funny boy!)

Each year I love
setting up my Nativity Sets after we eat our Thanksgiving dinner . . . we have a bay window in our living room and the tree goes in the window; I used to set the Precious Moments Nativity Set in the window as well with the kings traveling across the living room to the Nativity, because I want the focus to be on the Reason for the Season, but now we have a cat, so I put it on a shelf in my dining room where it is able to be seen even from our living room.

So, when I saw ideas for making your own Nativity set on  Pinterest, I thought it would be fun idea to encourage you to let the children you love make their own set each week leading up to Christmas! Each week they may add to their set by making additional pieces to take home.
  • Week 1 - Joseph, Mary and the Donkey
  • Week 2 - Angels and the Shepherds
  • Week 3 - Sheep
  • Week 4 - baby Jesus and the Star
  • Week 5 - after Christmas - the Three Wise Men
You will need empty medicine bottles and/or toilet paper tubes, yarn, clothes pins, scraps of cloth, make circles for faces - whatever supplies you want and you are ready to begin creating and celebrate Christmas all month long! Be sure to keep a camera handy as you are sure to get lots of wonderful photos - if your grands live far, send them a box with all the supplies and then connect each week to make their nativity set together!
