just for fun - Silly, but Real Laws in Arkansas

Get ready to laugh! As I looked up some silly, but real laws in  Arkansas, I realized once again we were likely to get a good laugh from these laws and have something funny to share with our grandchildren . . . to spread the laughing! After all, laughing is good for our health!

Did you know in Arkansas . . .
  • It’s strictly prohibited to pronounce “Arkansas” incorrectly. (This causes me to wonder, what is the "correct" way to pronounce it?)
  • The Arkansas River can rise no higher than to the Main Street bridge in Little Rock. (So . . . if it rises higher than this, who gets the "ticket"?)
  • Alligators may not be kept in bathtubs. (Okay . . . first of all I wondered why a alligator would be in a bathtub, then I wondered if this really was a big enough, or common enough problem someone felt the need to make a law, I wondered if it was acceptable for other animals to be kept in bathtubs and if they didn't keep them in bathtubs, where should they keep them??)
  • It is illegal to kill “any living creature”. (Really? With all the hunters in Arkansas??? Plus, certainly this does not apply to spiders as all spiders should be killed and then killed again!!!)
  • It is unlawful to walk one’s cow down Main Street after 1:00 PM on Sunday. (Is it lawful to do so until 1 PM? What about other days? Is it okay to walk a cow on other streets after 1 PM on a Sunday?)
  • Flirtation between men and women on the streets of Little Rock may result in a 30-day jail term. (This is funny!!! I wonder if they have a "flirtation" police squad which watches for people to break this law!!!)
Like I said, they are sure to leave you laughing!

Which law do you think is the funniest? I think the one about it being illegal to kill any living thing - I really do not see how they would ever enforce this in Arkansas!

At any rate, share these with your grandchildren - get ready for some laughing!
