just for fun - Silly But Real Laws in Arizona!

Get ready to laugh! As I looked up some silly, but real laws in Arizona, I realized once again we were likely to get a good laugh from these laws and have something funny to share with our grandchildren . . . to spread the laughing! After all, laughing is good for our health!

Did you know in Arizona . . .
  • Hunting camels is prohibited. (First of all, this law made me wonder if there are many - or any - camels in the "wild" in Arizona. Secondly, I wondered, why would people hunt camels???)
  • Any misdemeanor committed while wearing a red mask is considered a felony. (So . . . if I committed a misdemeanor wearing a blue or green or purple mask, it would not be considered a felony? Why does a red mask make such a significant difference???)
  • Donkeys cannot sleep in bathtubs. (Okay . . . first of all I wondered why a donkey would be anywhere where it might sleep in a bathtub, then I wondered if this really was a big enough, or common enough problem someone felt the need to make a law, and then I wondered if it was acceptable for other animals to sleep in bathtubs??)
  • It is unlawful to refuse a person a glass of water. (I wonder if this law is related to how hot it can be in Arizona, but really a law? Wouldn't good manners and simply being a human who cares about others motivate us to give water to people in need???)
  • If you bother the cottontails or bullfrogs, you will be fined. (What does it mean to "bother"??? I caught a lot of frogs as a child; would this be considered as "bothering"? My daughter and son have caught bunnies; again, is this considered "bothering"?)
  • No more than six girls may live in any house. (What about families with more than six daughters??? What about a house with more than six boys???)
  • A decree declares anyone caught stealing soap must wash himself with it until it is all used up. (This is funny!!! Hopefully, if someone actually stole soap, they were intending to bathe with it!!!)
  • Women may not wear pants. (I'd like to see them try to enforce this one!!!!)
Like I said, they are sure to leave you laughing!

Which law do you think is the funniest? I think the one about if you are caught stealing soap, then you have to wash yourself with it until it is all used up is really funny!!!

At any rate, share these with your grandchildren - get ready for some laughing!
