Make the Most of Being a Grandparent - Extreme Grandparenting

Yesterday I talked about a book you could read to help you with handing down a heritage of confident faith to your grandchildren. Today I'm very happy to share with you another book . . . Extreme Grandparenting by Dr. Tim & Darcy Kimmel.

Extreme Grandparenting
Authors - Dr. Tim & Darcy Kimmel
Publisher - Tyndale

Favorite Features -

  • Love how this book starts out saying; "If grandparents want to make a positive difference in their grandchildren's lives, they must have a plan." This is absolutely true.
  • Walks grandparents through the four basic roles God has given them to carry out.
  • Love chapter 3 - "Sacred Cow-Tipping" as it looks at dangerous attitudes grandparents can embrace which will destroy the opportunity they have to connect with their grandchildren and pass on a heritage of faith.
  • I absolutely LOVE the focus on being, "grace-based grandparents".
  • Chapters 5 and 6 on giving a blessing to our grandchildren is one all grandparents need to read and take to heart.
  • Chapter 8 challenges us to be torch bearers of the Gospel and of how to live a life which pleases God in a world which is not interested in doing so - two essential things for us to do.
  • Excellent chapter on long-distance grandparenting.
Tyndale says; "Grandparents have a vital role in the lives of their grandchildren, not only as a mentor and loving family member, but as a spiritual rock during the hard times. Extreme Grandparenting  helps readers understand how to make the most of the new role of grandparent and how to grow the next generation for greatness."

I found everything about Extreme Grandparenting to be encouraging and written to help me better understand how as a grandparent I need to think about; "What do I want my life to count for? This role as grandparent offers me one of the most significant opportunities to leave a legacy which never dies." Really, is anything else more important?

Extreme Grandparenting is a book grandparents will benefit from reading will help them understand how to hand down a heritage of faith!
