Today is National Brownie Day!

Brownies are such a wonderful treat and if any treat should ever deserve a day to be celebrated, Brownies should absolutely qualify! Happily today is National Brownie Day! Let's start our celebrating with some fun Brownie facts - did you know . . .

  • No one really knows where brownies first came from. There are three theories about the invention of brownies:
      • A chef accidentally added melted chocolate into biscuit dough.
      • A cook forgot to add flour to the batter while baking cake.
      • The most popular theory: A housewife did not have baking powder and improvised with this new treat. According to the story, she was baking for guests and decided to serve these “flattened” cakes to them.
  • There’s a mythical creature called a “Brownie”! Most people know the most common definition of the word “brownie” – a chocolate baked good. But did you know there’s also a mythical creature called a “brownie”? Brownies are tiny, fanciful, good-natured elves who secretly help out and do good deeds at night. (Brownie Girl Scouts get their "name" from this myth.)
