When my grandsons were young, one of the things we talked about was Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. They asked; "Grandma, have you ever watched the Turtles?" I said, "No." They asked; "Then why don't you like them?" I said, "Well, because while some girls may like the Turtles, I always thought; 'Why are the Turtles ninjas?' It didn't make sense to me and sounded silly. If I was a boy I probably would have thought they were cool, exciting, and fun." To which my then five year old grandson said, "Definitely!!" He thought I needed to spend time watching the Turtles with him so I could see how cool, exciting, and fun they are; even though I am a girl!
Then he asked if I would make him Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle Slippers. Of course the answer was, "Yes!" As I browsed Pinterest I found a great image of Ninja Turtle slippers . . . but no pattern. I continued to look and found another great pattern for Minion slippers - with a pattern which you will find at this link - which I thought would work really well for making Turtle slippers.I am a huge "fan" of warm feet. If my feet are cold, all of me is cold, so making fun slippers for my grandsons when they were young was definitely something I was in favor of doing!
When the boys came over for their sleep-over the next Friday night, the slippers were completed; and did not take long to be put on three pairs of feet! At first my one year old grandson wanted them off his feet, but as soon as he noticed his brothers had slippers, too, he was happy to keep his slippers on his feet. Once again, apparently whatever the two older brothers do, is exactly what the youngest brother wants to do!
I took photos which I'm sharing with you today. You will find the pattern at this link. I followed the pattern for each pair of slippers, but used a size 5 (H) for my oldest grandson's slippers, a size 4.5 (G) for my middle grandson's slippers and a size 4 (F) for my youngest grandson's slippers.
