Just For Fun!!! Odd Animal Facts!

There are no shortage of strange animals in the world, but even some of the most familiar have strange things about them which are not necessarily common knowledge. So, today I thought I'd share a few of the funny, strange, but true facts about common animals.  For example, did you know . . . 

• Elephants are the only mammals which can't jump.
• Starfish don't have brains.
• Polar bears are left handed.
• A duck's quack doesn't echo, and no one knows why.
• An ostrich's eye is bigger that it's brain.
• The fingerprints of koala bears are virtually indistinguishable from those of humans, so much so that they could be confused at a crime scene.
• Porcupines float in water.
• Orcas (killer whales) kill sharks by torpedoing up into to shark's stomach from underneath, causing the shark to explode.
• Emus and kangaroos cannot walk backwards, and are on the Australian coat of arms for this reason.
• A cockroach will live nine days without it's head, before it starves to death.

I probably could have lived quite happily without knowing the last one!!! My favorite one is the one about the ducks! Which one is your favorite fun fact?
