just for fun - February is the Great American Pie Month!

It is February and February is the Great American Pie Month!  Talk about a tasty month!  Whether you’re in the mood for a fruit pie with a flaky, golden crust or a sweet crème pie with a crunchy cookie crust, this is a month you will enjoy for sure!

So . . . what pie might you make in February? A favorite around here has been Peanut Butter Pie, but you can not go wrong with apple . . . or cherry . . . or blueberry . . . or ???

Today I am happy to share with you a recipe for pie "goodness" - a recipe your grandchildren are able to make - peanut butter, ice cream pie! This is such a tasty and simple pie, and it is the Great American Pie Month so, what could possibly be better?
Ingredients -
  • Heavy whipping cream - one pint per pie
  • Vanilla ice cream - something creamy is best, but get whatever you like
  • Peanut butter
  • Cookie or graham cracker pie crust
  • Favorite toppings - strawberries, chocolate syrup, mini chocolate chips, M&Ms, etc.
Directions -
  • Soften ice cream - 1/2 container per pie (about 1/4 gallon)
  • Mix whipping cream
  • Fold in softened ice cream
  • Pour into pie crust
  • If making peanut butter ice cream pie, add peanut butter and mix throughout (we add about 1/2 cup for one pie, but use what you prefer to get it to be as peanutty as you like.)
  • When you serve, have toppings available, so people are able to add what they like to their pie.
  • Enjoy
There are several things about this recipe which makes it one of my favorite pies . . .
  1. It is ice cream and whipping cream (with toppings) . . . what isn't there to love about this pie!!!
  2. The recipe is simple enough even young children are able to make it with just a little help.
  3. It is ice cream and whipping cream (with toppings) . . . what isn't there to love about this pie!!!
  4. It is the Great American Pie Month and pie is clearly a great way to celebrate!
  5. Did I mention, it is ice cream and whipping cream (with toppings) . . . what isn't there to love about this pie!!!
Consider making two pies - a vanilla pie (so you are able to top it with strawberries for a strawberry sundae ice cream pie!!!!) and a peanut butter ice cream pie (because it will be wonderful!)
If you make this pie, how will you top it?
