Today is National Pizza Day!

Oh yes, National Pizza Day . . . certainly a day worth celebrating, so in honor of this tasty day, I'm re-posting a recipe I shared back when I began grandma's cookie jar for homemade, personal pizzas, but first a few pizza fun facts - did you know . . .

  • 350 slices of pizza are eaten every second in the United States. However, surprisingly, the country with the highest consumption of pizza in the world per capita is Norway.
  • The most expensive pizza in the world will cost a massive $12,000 to order. This is a pizza which is sold in Italy, made by Renato Viola and just the dough takes 72 hours to make. It features some of the most lavish ingredients (as would be expected for this price tag), such as grains of pink Australian sea-salt from the Murray River, lobster from Norway, and even three different types of caviar.
  • Pizza is the second most popular fast food in the United States. The only fast food people love more than pizza is hamburgers! There is no denying the love of pizza is very real.
You will find more fun pizza info at this link.

Of course making and enjoying your own pizza is a wonderful way to celebrate National Pizza Day, so if you follow this link you'll find a recipe which is
pretty straightforward, but is one your grandchildren are able to literally "get their hands into" and really help prepare a meal for the family to enjoy! Top baked pizza crusts with whatever toppings you like - each grandchild may top their own pizza with their favorite toppings - each one is likely to be unique . . . just like the person who made it!

Talk with your grandchildren about how God created each of the ingredients they used to make their pizzas - lead them in thanking God for the good gifts He gives us! Talk with your grandchildren about how God made their hands so they could move and mix and knead and do all the things they did to make the pizzas and how their hands are unique . . . just as each of them are! Allow your grandchildren to hear you thank God for the wonderful gift He gave you when He gave you each of your unique grandchildren! Enjoy!
