The Dr. Seuss Quote for Today is - The More That You Read . . .

The Dr. Seuss Quote for today is, "The more that you read, the more things you will know. The more that you learn, the more places you'll go!" Since I love books and reading, this is a quote I can most certainly agree with! There are so many wonderful books available for us to read to and with our children - check my book reviews on grandma's cookie jar for some wonderful books! 

But while there are libraries full of excellent books to read, the best thing you can read for yourself and for the children in your life is the Bible! Look at Psalm 119:105, "Your word is a lamp that gives light wherever I walk." God's Word is unlike any other book, because not only is it filled with amazing stories of real people and how our real God worked in their lives, but it is the actual words of God! It has power to touch our hearts and change our lives! It is the means by which we are able to know and walk with God! Look at 

Hebrews 4:12, "What God has said isn't only alive and active! It is sharper than any double-edged sword. His word can cut through our spirits and souls and through our joints and marrow, until it discovers the desires and thoughts of our hearts."  God's Word is alive and the more we read it, the more we will know God! The more we know God, the more we will be filled with joy! So, read! Read lots of books, but most importantly, read God's Word!

Be sure to point this out to your grandchildren, too! Help them understand how important it is for them to read and most importantly to read their Bibles. Be sure they have Bibles; if they do not, find a way for them to receive a Bible of their own. Help them understand they need to not only read God's Word, but they also need to focus on what the Bible is saying and how they can live it in their everyday lives! Be sure to take a moment to pray for each grandchild by name - "Thank You God for giving us Your Word to light _____'s path! Please help him/her know Your Word is alive and active! Help him/her know it will help them know You and know how to walk with You every day of his/her life! Thank You, Amen!"
