The Dr. Seuss Quote for today . . . Think!

The Dr. Seuss Quote for today . . . "Think! You can think any think that you wish . . . !" Hmmm.  This quote I don't particularly agree with, because while we can "think any think we wish", just because we "can" it doesn't mean we "should". Philippians 4:8 says, "Finally, my friends, keep your minds on whatever is true, pure, right, holy, friendly, and proper. Don't ever stop thinking about what is truly worthwhile and worthy of praise. It does matter what we think about because the things we fill our minds with will have an impact on the things we say and do. So . . . while you can think any think you wish, I'd encourage you to think about things which are true, pure, right holy, friendly, proper and worthy of praise so your actions and words will also be true, pure, right, holy, friendly, proper, and worthy of praise!

Be sure to point this out to your grandchildren, too! Ask them what kind of things they think about. Help them put concrete thoughts to what it means to think about things which are true, pure, right, holy, friendly, proper and worthy of praise. Help them understand this verse doesn't "tie their hands" but instead it frees them by providing a "template" they can use to determine which things they say and do will help them know and walk with Jesus!

Give them each a wide rubber band and permanent ink markers. Help them write, "Think! True, Pure, Right, Holy, Friendly, Proper & Worthy of Praise!" on their band and then wear them so they can be reminded in the coming week what to think about! Be sure to take a moment to pray for each grandchild by name - "Thank You God for Your great love for _____ ! Please help him/her think about those things which are true, pure, right, holy, friendly, proper, and worthy of praise so these things they think about will show in the things they say and the things they do!"
