God has given each of us who know Him at least one gift and these gifts are given so we are able to serve Him! Some of us can teach, some of us can give. Others are encouragers while still others know how to lead. There are more gifts, but all of them are needed and all of them allow our "body" the church to show a watching world the love of our amazing God! I Corinthians 12:11,12, 14, 18 tells us, "But it is the Spirit who does all this and decides which gifts to give to each of us. The body of Christ has many different parts, just as any other body does. Our bodies don't have just one part. They have many parts. But God has put all parts of our body together in the way that he decided is best."
Aren't you so glad God "put all the parts together in the way He decides is best?!!! I Corinthians 12 goes on to say in verses 19, 24-27, "But God has put all parts of our body together in the way that he decided is best. God put our bodies together in such a way that even the parts that seem the least important are valuable. He did this to make all parts of the body work together smoothly, with each part caring about the others. If one part of our body hurts, we hurt all over. If one part of our body is honored, the whole body will be happy. Together you are the body of Christ. Each one of you is part of his body." Many parts and many gifts - all work together smoothly caring about the others and showing God's love to the world! Like I said, "wow!" So, jump in, keep your eyes open and use the gifts God gave you!
I think this also has application as it relates to us as grandmas . . . keep our eyes open! Don't miss the joys of being "grandma"! Love your grandchildren, love them well! Greet them with hugs, smiles and I love yous every time you see them. Take advantage of the time you have with them so they grow up knowing you loved them forever and for always! Treasure your grandchildren and most importantly, keep your eyes open so you are able to point them to Jesus! Don't miss the best things!!!
Be sure to point these things out to your grandchildren, too! Talk with them about how to discover the gifts God has given them! Help them think of ways to use the gifts God has given them so they are able to "jump in, keep their eyes open, care about others and show God's love to the world around them! Be sure to take a moment to pray for each grandchild by name - "Thank You God for giving _____ the gift You want him/her to have! Please help him/her 'keep his/her eyes open' and learn to use the gift you have given him/her so he/she is able to care about others as part of the 'body of Christ'!"
