Today is National Washington State Day

Yes, today is the day to celebrate Washington State, so we will once again look at some of their silly laws and some interesting facts about this State. My grandsons enjoy the silly laws, so this is the reason I share them with you. Did you know . . .

  • Lollipops are banned in Washington State. I do not know why! I highly doubt this is actually enforced.
  • The harassing of Bigfoot, giant Sasquatch, or other undiscovered subspecies is a felony.
  • In Washington, it is illegal to pretend one’s parents are rich.
  • Here in Washington, it is illegal to sleep in an outhouse without the owner’s permission.

  • There are more than 3,000 glaciers in the state.
  • The 9,300-year-old skeletal remains of Kennewick Man, one of the oldest and most complete human remains found in North America, were discovered in Washington in the 1990s.
  • Washington State remains the only state named after a president.
  • Washington is actually considered the most dog-friendly state in the U.S. 
  • It has volcanos.
