Make Time for What Really Matters

Yesterday I was thinking about when my grandsons were younger, they spent a lot of time at my house - sleepovers and when their parents were working. Now they are older, so while they still come over nearly every weekend for a sleepover (I am SO blessed!), they do not typically come over in the summer. However, the past couple weeks, on one of the days when both of their parents are working, my youngest grandson - nearly 11 - has wanted to spend the day at my house! Did I mention I am SO blessed!

I have been thinking about the things which really matter and I absolutely believe spending time with the ones I love is a primary way I am able to show them they are loved. When my grandsons come over each weekend, I try to fix food I know they will enjoy. I make sure my pantry is stocked with snacks they enjoy (typically fruit, guac & chips, and some candy), and I am intentional about telling them how dearly they are loved.

July my middle grandson has a birthday, August is my youngest grandson's birthday, and September is my oldest grandson's birthday, so over the coming months there will be much celebrating at this grandma's house! They always get to pick the menu for their birthday dinner, and of course there are presents!

My youngest grandson was at my house yesterday and thought peanut butter chocolate brownies sounded like a tasty idea - so, of course, I made some which I sent home with him - after he had some - topped with whipped cream! Last night my oldest grandson messaged me to thank me for making the brownies! My heart is SO happy! When we show love, we often receive love - this matters as it makes strong, solid, essential memories. You will find the recipe I used at this link - I melted the butter then added ingredients from there and the result was moist, tender, and very tasty brownies.

So, what do you think? Oh, I see! You are heading for your pantry to get the supplies! Enjoy!!!
