Summer Reading - Under the Table

For the past several days I've been sharing with you some of the wonderful books Candlewick Press sent me for review - I have two more, so today I'm very happy to let you know about a book which is so silly and fun, the children you love are sure to enjoy it - Under the Table by Alan Ahlberg and Bruce Ingman will have you all laughing!

Favorite Features -

  • A story about imagination and family fun!
  • Illustrations have so many details - be sure to look closely!
  • As you read this book, see if the children are able to guess which things are under the table before you turn the page each time to see what is there - adds to the fun!
  • You and the children you love will also enjoy looking for Bertie - the egg! She isn't on every page, but she is on a lot of them.
Candlewick Press says, "Nothing is what it seems—and anything can happen—when the hilarious team of Allan Ahlberg and Bruce Ingman sneak a peek under the table. What do you do when you’re having an ordinary day, only to discover there’s a big gray elephant (named Nathaniel) under the table? Why, you get him to help you wash the car! And the kangaroo (named Abigail) who appears under the same table can help bring in groceries. But when there are penguins in the fridge, the forks and knives are running around, and the salt and ketchup are acting up, there is only one thing to do: pack everyone in the camper and go on vacation! With a wink and a nod, Allan Ahlberg and Bruce Ingman reunite for another wry, comical, zany adventure starring the family introduced in The Runaway Dinner and The Pencil."

I found Under the Table to be an unexpected, imaginative, and fun book - I know my grandsons would have loved it when they were younger! This is a great book for Summer Reading fun!

Candlewick Press sent me this book for review, but my opinions are my own.
