Summer Reading - The Baby That ROARED

I read and review a LOT of books for children . . . since I love books, this is something I enjoy doing! However; every once-in-awhile a book comes along which is a true delight   and   occasionally  one comes along which makes me laugh out-loud! The Baby That Roared by Simon Puttock and illustrated by Nadia Shireenis one such book!

Favorite Features -
  • this is a delightful, funny and unexpected story!
  • I love how this is a monster story - but not really a scary monster story!
  • colorful illustrations with "texture"
  • I love how the illustrations give "clues" to the story
  • I love how the story asks questions and then tries to find the answers . . . and the answer is unexpected!
  • I enjoy the use of the word, "peculiar" in this story as it is a word my grandsons loved to use when they were young!
Nosy Crow Books says, "When Mr. and Mrs. Deer find a little antlered bundle on the doorstep, Mrs. Deer thinks their wish for a baby has come true; Mr. Deer thinks the baby is very, very peculiar. It won’t stop roaring, so they ask advice from friends and family, who in turn send them off to fetch what they think the baby needs. But each time Mr. and Mrs. Deer return home from an errand, someone is missing and the baby is still roaring. It takes wise old Granny Bear to spot the problem. The baby’s not a baby - it’s a little monster! A very hungry monster at that. . . ."

The Baby That Roared is so much fun!!!! Be sure to get your grandchildren to "roar" with the "dear, little baby" . . . and be sure you "roar" along with them!
