Summer Reading - Do Your Ears Hang Low?

For the past few weeks I've been sharing book reviews with you in my Summer Reading reviews. Reading to and with the children we love is one of the most important things we can ever do to help them speak sooner, develop a larger vocabulary, begin to read, and do better in school, so reading to and with them in the Summer - and all year - is one of the best ways we are able to spend our time with them. Since I'm waiting for more books to arrive, today I'm very happy to let you know about a book I reviewed a few years ago from Union Square Kids - it was one of my grandson's favorite books! Do Your Ears Hang Low? illustrated by Jenny Cooper is a "must-get" book and is sure to be a favorite of the children you love, too!

Favorite Features -

  • I love the illustrations - they add a lot of fun to the book!
  • The text is the old song, "Do Your Ears Hang Low?", so singing it is even more fun than reading it!
  • It has basset hounds in it, so of course I love this book!
Union Square Kids says, "The delightfully silly song comes to life in a hilarious picture book—complete with a mirror on the final spread!

Do your ears hang low?
Do they wobble to and fro?
Can you tie them in a knot?
Can you tie them in a bow?

Most kids and parents know and love the song “Do Your Ears Hang Low?”—and Jenny Cooper’s utterly adorable illustrations will have everyone singing with joy! A little mouse leads the fun as it plays with a bassethound’s floppy, silky ears; a llama’s perky, fuzzy ones; the saggy, soft ears of a lop-eared rabbit; and the flappy, happy ears of a lively piglet. A mirror at the end invites children right into the book, and entertaining “ear” facts complete the picture!"

As I wrote earlier, I and my grandsons LOVED this book, so when I think about Summer Reading, I had to share it with you! Do Your Ears Hang Low? is absolutely well worth adding to your library.
