As we continue with my Summer Reading Reviews, I'm very happy to let you know about another book from Kids Can Press - No Dragons for Tea by Jean E. Pendziwol and illustrated by Martine Gourbault. This story is fun and teaches children important fire safety skills . . .
Favorite Features -
- I love the colorful and detailed illustrations.
- The story is fun - with a title like, No Dragons for Tea, it has to be a fun story and this one is for sure!
- As I mentioned, not only is it a fun story, but it will help children learn the important facts they need to know to be fire smart and safe if they are ever in a house which catches fire.
Kids Can Press says, "While out for a walk with her mom, a little girl has the surprise of her life --- she meets a real, live, fire-breathing dragon! Now this dragon is nothing to be afraid of --- in fact, he’s so friendly she invites him home for tea. But their afternoon snack is suddenly interrupted when the dragon sneezes and sets the table ablaze. Luckily, the girl knows just what to do, and she teaches her new friend to be fire smart, too.
With its funny, rhyming verse and spunky illustrations, Dragons for Tea shows kids learning about fire safety doesn’t have to be scary. The story ends with “The Dragon’s Fire Safety Rhyme” --- a fun and easy way to remember what to do in case of fire."
What could possibly go wrong if you invite a friendly fire-breathing dragon to your house for tea? Well, if pepper makes it sneeze, something unexpected could certainly happen! No Dragons for Tea is a book children are sure to enjoy and one parents and grandparents will want to read with the children they love as well.
