Did you know if you were to lose your thumb you could have it replaced with one of your toes? "When your big toe gets attached to the rest of your hand, it can accomplish many of the same activities your thumb could, including holding a pencil, eating food, and opening doors." I found this toe fun fact at the following link and since today is National Wiggle Your Toes Day, I thought it would be fun to share some "toe facts"!
- There are more than 8,000 nerves in your feet - which may explain why your feet are ticklish!
- 1% of children are born with extra toes! (I know this is true as one of my nephews has six toes on each foot!)
- Toe wrestling is actually a competitive sport.
- Our "big" toes have two bones and our other toes have three bones each!
You will find more fun facts at this link.
So, now you know all these things about toes, what might you do to celebrate National Wiggle Your Feet Day? Well, of course you might wiggle your toes! Consider the following ideas for wiggly toe fun -
- Take photos - or make a movie of your wiggly toes!
- Paint your toe nails, and/or draw faces on your toes - of course this means taking more photos!
- Make toe/foot prints with paint on a shirt, wood, or with cement to make "stones" to put in your yard.
Whatever you decide to do, have fun with the ones you love wiggling your toes on this special day! Enjoy!
