Today is National Connecticut Day

If you, or someone you love/know lives in Connecticut, today is a day to celebrate! What makes Connecticut special? Well, we will look at some fun facts about this State, but first will check some of their silly laws - be sure to share with the children you love - my grandsons tend to enjoy hearing these when I share with them. Did you know . . . 

  • In order for a pickle to officially be considered a pickle, it must bounce.
  • In Southington, silly string is banned.
  • In Meriden, the use of a bean whistle in public is prohibited.
  • In Waterbury, no beautician can hum, whistle, or sing while working on a customer.

Now for some interesting facts about Connecticut - did you know . . . 
  • The name ‘Connecticut’ came from the Algonquian word ‘Quinnehtukqut,’ which means’ land on the long tidal river.’
  • Connecticut is known to be the fifth state to become a part of the United States of America. 
  • The first hamburger was made in Connecticut.
  • The lollipop was invented by George Smith of New Haven, Connecticut.
