If we are serious about passing on a heritage of faith to our grandchildren, we really need to be intentional. We need to think about it. We need to pray. We need to have conversations we plan, as well as be listening and watching for opportunities to help our grandchildren connect what they are doing/what is happening with God's Word.
Then, the important part. They reason I had them help. We prayed for the people who were going to receive our cards. The boys prayed these people would experience joy in the coming year and come to know and love God more! My grandsons prayed these things for the people receiving the cards . . . one of the best parts of Christmas for me! It is truly one of the most wonderful things in life to hear my grandsons pray!
I wanted my grandsons to think about the people who were receiving our cards. I wanted them to experience praying in this way for others. I wanted them to understand they could give this amazing gift of their prayers to people. It was the reason I had them help with the cards. Just a simple and small way I planned to pass faith to my grandsons.
Christmas is just three months away - maybe you might want to try this with the children you love!
