Play-Doh is part of childhood for all of us . . . for good reason; after all, what could possibly be more fun than making things from dough? Well, today is National Play-Doh Day, so let's look at some fun facts about this wonderfully creative toy - did you know . . .
- Play-Doh wasn’t originally meant to be for children. It was supposed to be a wallpaper cleaner!
- It was in 1955 that Kay Zufall, a school teacher, the creator of Play-doh’s sister-in-law, suggested marketing and selling the product as arts and crafts and playthings.
- Play-Doh became an overnight sensation when Bob Keeshan — also known as Captain Kangaroo, showcased the product on his most popular children’s television show once a week.
- On its 50th anniversary, Hasbro collaborated with Demeter Fragrance Library and created a Play-Doh fragrance.
- Back in the day when technology wasn’t as advanced, a Play-Doh replica of a human finger could fool 90% of fingerprint scanners into considering it an accurate print.
- Hasbro launched an app in 2016 which enables kids to turn their Play-Doh creatures into animated characters.
- In 1998, Play-Doh was inducted into the National Toy Hall of Fame at the Strong National Museum of Play in New York.

I thought it would be fun to share a couple recipes for making your own homemade Play-Doh . . . which I found on Pinterest. This first recipe is fun on Play-Doh day and any day in the Fall in particular as it is a Pumpkin Pie Play-Doh recipe!
