Christmas Book Review - When Digz the Dog Met Zurl the Squirrel

I have one more book from Penguin Random House to share with you - When Digz the Dog Met Zurl the Squirrel by Chris Pine and illustrated by Chuck Groenink. If you and/or a child you love has a dog, especially one who might be annoyed by squirrels in your yard, then this is the book for them!

Favorite Features -

  • I love the detailed and colorful illustrations - the children you love will as well!
  • Children (and adults) will relate to the feelings Digz the Dog feels from living alone in the pound.
  • They (and you) will also relate to how Zurl the squirrel feels "different" and, "her poor heart needed a mend."
  • I love the message about how someone who you think will never be your friend, "not now, never, nope" may end up being your best friend ever because you realize you do care because you have felt "different", too.
  • Fantastic story, wonderful illustrations, and important message.
Penguin Random House says, "From blockbuster actor Chris Pine comes his very first children's book about a delightful duo destined to become a classic.

Digz the Dog is certain he is the king of Ms. Pincher's garden. There's just one problem . . . Zurl the Squirrel is
positive she is the queen of Ms. Pincher's Garden. As a dog and a squirrel, the two are natural enemies. But there's more to Digz and Zurl than meets the eye. Digz was once a lonely dog left at the pound. And Zurl has her fair share of insecurities too. When the two come face-to-face in a showdown, they realize. . . they might not be so different.

A perfect Fall read for kids, beloved actor Chris Pine has penned a beautiful picture book about love and accepting one another despite our differences. With gorgeous and timeless illustrations from Chuck Groenink, When Digz the Dog Met Zurl the Squirrel is sure to become a classic read for years to come."
