I know for the past week I have been writing about the Life on the Goldilocks Planet books, but I want you to know about this unique series which makes a fantastic Christmas gift - especially when you combine a book with the supplies needed for all the science projects, crafts, recipes, and games which fill the books. This gift will bring joy to your family as you all learn, explore, experiment, create, and have fun together! If you have children ages four to fourteen you love who who enjoy science projects, craft projects, enjoy cooking activities, games, and learning about amazing animals, then, yes, this is the gift for them!
Over the past few days I have shared the Life on the Goldilocks Planet books with you - today I want to let you know about another book in the series - Cheetahs, Mimic Octopuses, Hoatzins & More! - in this book you will find the following animals - Cheetahs, Eels, Philippine Eagles, Chameleons, Gerenuks, Mimic Octopuses & Immortal Jellyfish, Hoatzins, Moose, Boxfish, Iberian Wolves, Olms & Mombachos, and Bactrian Camels - which of these have you never heard of before?
So, what projects will the children you love be able to enjoy with Cheetahs, Mimic Octopuses, Hoatzins & More!, well, check out this list . . .
- Elephant toothpaste
- Three racing games
- DIY Colorful suncatchers
- Make bird feeders
- "Moving" colors
- Leaves science project
- Let's play charades
- Learn about digestion
- Make a hollow trivet
- Soundwave science

- Zero-movement contest
- Catcus fun
- Cheetahs go from zero to 60 miles per hour in just three seconds!
- Baby Eels look transparent until they grow large enough to move from the surface of the ocean to the deeper waters where they live – or for freshwater Eels to return to the freshwater. This process may take as long as two and a half years.
- When a Mimic Octopus is being pursued by a hungry neighbor, they change color and shape to resemble as many as 15 other venomous or toxic creatures which eat their hungry neighbors – such as Crabs, Lion Fish, Sole, Batoids, Anemones, Jellyfish, Starfish, and Sea Snakes.
- Immortal Jellyfish revert to their polyp stage (this process is called transdifferentiation) and basically lets them “age” backwards – revert to being polyps and then “clone” themselves to make all new Immortal Jellyfish – which are identical to the original - meaning they don’t “die”, they just keep starting over again and again.
- Hoatzins (HWAT-sins) chicks are born with “odd”, special “claws” on their wings.
- The hooves on Moose are large – and work like snowshoes – very helpful since they live where there is a lot of snow!
- When Boxfish are ready to have babies, the dads show off their bright colors to the moms, then they dance, swim around, and actually hum loud enough if you are swimming nearby, you will hear them!
- Olms have actually been observed to be still, not moving, for more than 2,500 days in a row!
