crafting with grandma - Crayon Hearts

I found a wonderful idea today while browsing on Pinterest . . . crayon hearts! You can make these from bits and pieces of old, broken crayons . . . rather than throw those old crayons away! It is very simple and fun - a  great craft for you to make with your grandchildren!

Supplies -
  • broken, old crayons
  • heart muffin tins
  • paper
  • double-side mounting foam
  • cardstock
  • markers
  • scissors
Directions -
  • heat oven to 250 degrees
  • remove paper from crayons - did I mention this is a fun craft you could make with your grandchildren?!!! :-)
  • fill muffin tins with broken crayons
  • place in oven until the crayons melt - about 10 to 15 minutes
  • allow to cool in pan
  • remove from pan, smooth any rough edges by coloring on scrap paper
  • cut shapes from cardstock, use foam double-side tape to place heart in the center of your card - write a message
  • give to people on your Valentine's Day card list
The post from Disney's Family Fun page gave a few fun suggestions for the message on your Valentine's Day cards -
  • You Color My World!
  • Valentine, You Make My Heart Melt!
  • Have a Happy Valentine's Day, For "Crayon" Out Loud!
Have fun with this craft!
