just as grandma's cookie jar should always be full of good things, this blog will be full of good ideas, information, activities and reviews of things to help grandma . . . and grandpa, mom and dad too . . . pass on a heritage of faith to the children in their lives!
One of my all-time favorite pies is Custard Pie . . . particularly when it has been chilled in the refrigerator! So, since it is the Great American Pie Month I thought it would be a good time to share a custard pie recipe with you!Ingredients -
one 9 inch unbaked pie crust
3 beaten eggs
3/4 cup sugar
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon vanilla
2 1/2 cups evaporated milk
1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
Directions -
Preheat oven to 400 degrees F (205 degrees C).
Mix together eggs, sugar, salt, and vanilla. Stir well. Blend in milk.
Pour custard mixture into piecrust. Sprinkle with nutmeg.
Bake for 30 to 35 minutes, or until a knife inserted near center comes out clean. Cool on rack.
enjoy! :^)
This is a truly enjoyable pie - enjoy one with the ones you love today!
