Tomorrow is; "Do a Grouch a Favor Day"!

I discovered this special day on-line where it said, "On Do a Grouch a Favor Day, if you know someone who is always grouchy, then this is the day to go out of your way to turn their frown upside down. Celebrate by trying to make all those people with the 'I-just-sucked-a-lemon-face' or those people who are just mean all the time, happy by going out of your way to do something nice for them. Considering this holiday is immediately following Valentine's Day, the most romantic and loving holiday of the year, you are sure to find plenty of people to do favors for."

So, today make plans to brighten a grouch's day, I thought I'd share some interesting info about grouches - did you know . . .
  • Ludwig van Beethoven wrote a letter — named the ‘Heiligenstadt Testament’ — to his brothers Carl and Johann; he said his increasing irritability and grouchy disposition were due to his increasing deafness.
  • ‘Grumpy’ is an adjective which means a person is being bad-tempered and miserable. ‘Grumpy face’ can be a descriptor for a person whose mood shows on their face.
  • Any number of the “Sesame Street” episodes have Oscar the Grouch, the green, trash can-residing, no-nose grump, and we love them all!
  • Maybe the grouchy person you know is not really a grouch, but just needs a kind word or a smile to improve their mood. Even the smallest of gestures — or favors — can lighten their load.
  • Helping people goes a long way towards turning us into better people ourselves, and we are all for this improvement.

I love the idea of doing something nice for someone who is cranky . . . or at least someone who needs to have their day brightened! This is a great idea to talk about with our grandchildren as it gives them the opportunity to show the love of Jesus to someone who needs to experience His love; and this is something they can do every day, not just on "Do a Grouch a Favor Day"!
