GSI Outdoors - Microlite 500 Flip, Vacuum Bottle Review

I thought I'd share an interesting stat with you today. Did you know in the USA we used about 50 billion plastic water bottles last year? Did you know on average 250 coffee drinks are sold each day at coffee drive-through businesses in the USA?

grandma's chuckles . . . "I Need a Break From Children . . . "

From the title to this post, you may be thinking I, or another adult, said this statement, but no . . . it was uttered by my then four-year old grandson, Caleb! On that day the boys spent Friday at my house, had a sleep-over, and then Saturday afternoon, we took them home. On the way we discovered their parents were thinking about having a bonfire at our house (we live in the country with plenty of room for bonfires and at the time they lived in the city - not so much bonfire room!)

Frederik Meijer Gardens and Sculpture Park - Best Sculpture Park in America!

Over the past years I have written a few times about the
Frederik Meijer Gardens and Sculpture Park - typically about their amazing "Butterflies are Blooming" in March and April where thousands of butterflies are in the Tropical Conservatory or their "Christmas Around the World" in November and December. This past Christmas my dear husband and I decided to give each other and ourselves the gift of a membership to the Park. We decided on a grandparents membership - which allows us and our grandchildren 18 and younger - to visit as often as we like in the coming year. We added the guest option where we are able to bring a guest as well and I have to say, we have easily gotten our money's worth out of our membership at only four months into our membership! We will absolutely be renewing our membership next year!

A Family of Her Own for Candy - Great Story to Encourage Reading in the Summer!

Last summer my husband, grandsons, and I went to the Humane Society to get a kitten. I wanted my grandsons to go with us because, first of all, they love all animals, secondly I wanted to be sure whatever cat we got was one which was able to be around my grandsons without being aggressive. We spent some time at the Humane Society and finally settled on a very sweet calico - which we named Candy, because she is sweet (and my middle grandson said she reminded him of candy corn.)

The Lord's Prayer book

I was recently invited by Zonderkidz to review one of their books - The Lord's Prayer: Words of Hope and Happiness by Rick Warren. While I have reviewed no shortage of children's books on the Lord's Prayer over the years, I liked the photo of the cover and decided to check it out. I'm oh so glad I did! It is excellent, and while geared for children, adults will get much out of it as well. I'm very happy to share it with you today . . .

Why Should I Invest in Generations Quest for My Family? Answer #5

I've been writing this week about why investing in Generations Quest for your family makes sense - today I'm sharing another reason to do this . . . because since God's Word changes lives and helps us walk with God, why wouldn't we want to invest in a tool which gives us a simple way to do this?

Why Should I Invest in Generations Quest for My Family? Answer #4

For the past few days I've been sharing reasons to invest in Generations Quest for your family . . . because  Generations Quest will allow your family to all be on the same page when it comes to reading God's Word together, because helping the children we love become grounded in God's Word will help keep them from becoming derailed in a world which is running farther from God every day, and because with Generations Quest being "too busy" is not an excuse for not reading God's Word, as it is designed to involve just reading a verse or two a day!

Don't Worry: It is Impossible to Spoil Grandchildren Will Help You "Maximize the Gift" of Grandchildren

Do you know who V. Gil Beers is? He has written more than 150 books, sold more than 13 million of his books and he has been so very kind to endorse my book; Don't Worry: It is Impossible to Spoil Grandchildren

Why Should I Invest in Generations Quest for My Family? Answer #3

Our lives, and the lives of our family members, tend to be busy. We have so much to do each day, which means, far too often we do not make time for what really matters; because we are busy. Generations Quest was created to help busy people make time for what really matters - reading God's Word together as a family!

Why Should I Invest in Generations Quest for My Family? Answer #2

As intentional Christian grandparents, we are serious about passing confident faith to our grandchildren. But when we look at the world in which our grandchildren are growing up, we may fear there are too many things around them which will derail and side-track their faith. However; there are three very important things for us to remember . . .

Cuisinart Coffee-On-Demand

My day begins at 5:45 . . . yes, in the AM. And yes, this is EARLY!!!! But, I get up five days a week at 5:45 to fix breakfast for my hubby before he goes to work. So, I can assure you, I am so thankful for the Cuisinart Coffee-On-Demand as it makes fixing coffee so easy . . . even at 5:45 am.
