My Sweet Love

Today my heart is very happy as I remember something my youngest grandson said seven years ago when he was three. He was at my house and watched Pooh's Heffalump Movie. In the movie, Lumpy's mom rescues Roo and then calls Roo, "Love". My grandson decided I should call him my, "Sweet Love"!

Book Review - May I Please Open a Present?

Shane's Important Things

Today I am remembering seven years ago when my then three years old grandson was at my house, and I had the opportunity to learn about something which matters a lot to him.

At my house we had a little crib which was been where he slept when he was here. It was also where he puts the things which mattered to him the most . . . his stuffed Corgie plush toy was in his crib. His big basset hound plush toy was in his crib. A transformer toy was in his crib. His pillow with photos of his family on it was in his crib. His yellow blanket was in his crib. His blanket with photos of our family on it was in his crib. And on this particular day, his own, real Bible was in his crib.

What Do You Do & a Thankful Thanksgiving Tablecloth

A week from tomorrow I'll be fixing my turkey for Thanksgiving dinner. I'm getting a smoked turkey this year, plan to cut it up and put it in my instant pot with sliced apples and herbs to make it extra tasty, and then use my instant pot to heat the turkey so it is tasty and tender for dinner. I love the flavor apples add to the turkey . . . and the gravy!

What do you do to make your turkey extra tasty?

Look What Lives in the Americas & Europe - A Great Christmas Gift

As I shared over the past couple weeks, during covid my grandsons and I wrote 12 books about animals, so earlier this year I took the animals from these books and put together a series for young children (although everyone loves picture books about animals, so all ages will enjoy them!) Today I am happy to let you know about the book - "Look What Lives in the Americas & Europe". This is a picture book filled with full-color photos - two of each animal, and some interesting, fun facts about each one as well.

Created 'Just Right! Look What Lives in Australia & New Zealand - A Great Christmas Gift

In just over a month we will be celebrating Christmas, so if you are looking for gifts and are interested in a series of books for the younger children in your life (ages three through seven), then check out the "Created Just Right" books!  During COVID my grandsons and I put together the twelve books in the Life on the Goldilocks Planet series which help us see how animals show us God is real because He made everything "just right". In these books (which I have shared with you before), you find full-color photos, fun facts, along with crafts, science projects, and recipes for the entire family to enjoy as they learn about the animals and discover how they help them have a confident faith. These books (The Life on the Goldilocks Planet series) are ideal for children ages four through fourteen - and the entire family.

Christmas Gift Idea - If You're Groovy and You Know It, Hug a Friend

I have long been a big "fan" of picture books. If you are able to combine a fun story with colorful illustrations, well, I am likely to like the book. I do not believe it is ever truly possible to outgrow an excellent picture book - just because the book was written for children ages three to five, it does not mean a grandma will not also enjoy the book. In fact, I am fully convinced all picture books should include "grandmas" when it lists the ages for whom the book is written!

With all of this in mind, when I had the opportunity to select a few books from Scholastic to review and review, I just had to ask for the book I'm reviewing today . . . and I am SO happy they sent it to me!

Encourage Your Grandchildren to Not Give Up!

Handing down the faith means telling our grandchildren the truth - God loves them, He is always with them, He hears, listens to and answers their prayers, and they can know and walk with Him. But it also means telling them there are difficult times in this life. Times when they may not understand what is happening. But, God is with them in those times and they are able to hold fast to Him and complete the path before them. In happy and difficult times, they are able to keep their eyes on Jesus and not give up!

This gift will bring joy to your family as you all learn, explore, experiment, create, and have fun together! If you have children ages four to fourteen you love who who enjoy science projects, craft projects, enjoy cooking activities, games, and learning about amazing animals, then, yes, these books are the right gifts for them!

The 4N1 - Great for Your Own Use & a Fantastic Grandparents Day Gift for Someone You Love!

I have been writing about receiving the Miracle Mobility 4N1 rollator/electric wheelchair and today I am happy to let you know about my experience using it. I went to a local garden/ sculpture park (Frederik Meijer Gardens and Sculpture Park) and spent several hours driving it inside the building and outside in the garden and sculpture park - the following is what I think of the 4N1 -

Today is World Kindness Day!

Today is World Kindness Day - if ever we needed kindness in our world it is thing about kindness is it is contagious, and it does truly change everything. So, today make the choice to be kind to yourself - give yourself a break. Then, be kind to the people around you - take time to smile, say hello, say thank you, let someone else go first. These are all simple ways to be kind - and easy ways to be kind.

Tasters Welcome!

On the wall by the entry to my kitchen is a sign which says; "Grandma's Kitchen - Tasters Welcome!" My grandsons believe this sign . . . especially when I'm baking homemade cookies!

I'm glad they believe it, because it is true - they are always welcome to, "taste" in my kitchen! It puts a smile on my face when they "taste" and especially when they enjoy what they tasted!

Each of my posts about the Life on the Goldilocks Planet  books highlights one of the twelve books in the series and shares how they are excellent ideas for Christmas gifts this year! As you have been able to see from my posts, each book has very interesting animals and activities - giving you the opportunity match the book with the child for a gift they will truly enjoy - especially when you combine a book with the supplies needed for all the science projects, crafts, recipes, and games which fill the books. Be a Babushka for Your Grandchildren

I recently read in my  Grandmother's Bible a devotion by Joni Eareckson Tada. In it she said, "When Ken and I were in Russia . . . we met many Russian 'babushkas'. The praying grandmothers . . . the stalwart saints of whom Stalin had cruelly said, 'If we can get rid of these old women, we will have the youth in our grasp.' Stalin failed. And thank God for praying grandmothers who served as a link, spanning a generation lost to atheism and connecting a new generation of young people who are asking open, honest questions about Jesus."  Then the prayer for the day, "Father of all ages, as gray hairs abound, may righteousness abound. May I never resent the encroaching years, but view them as an opportunity to deepen my life of praise and intercession."
