Grandma's Brag Book!

When I first became a grandma, a friend gave me a small photo album, so I could fill it with photos - a "grandma's brag book". But, in the past few years, facebook has become the "new grandma's brag book" as we upload and share our photos with family and friends.

just for fun - January is Brainteaser's Month!

Typically, I'm not great at brainteasers . . . my husband is great at them, but I don't tend to "get them"! However, as we start January, since it is Brainteaser's Month, I thought I'd browse a bit on Pinterest and look for some Brainteasers, even I could "get" and then share them with you!

I found a few . . . if I can "get" them, they are likely ones your grandchildren will enjoy, so . . . here they are . . .

Family Fun Idea - Photo Scavenger Hunt!

If you are looking for fun ideas to use with the children you love this year, then I have a fun idea for you . . .

Go on a photo scavenger hunt! Just give them a list of things to find and a camera and send them out to search around your yard or in a park, or any place you choose. They can look for items and when they find them, take a picture to show you when they get back!

The Little Ginormous, Humongous, Hairy, One-Eyed Monster Boys Adventures!

One of the things I loved when my grandsons were younger was bedtime as it always involved telling stories. One night as they boys got ready for bed my oldest grandson told his younger brother there was a monster under his bed. I told them there couldn't be any monsters under their beds because the monsters were at their grandma's and poppa's on a sleepover. This of course required a new bedtime story being made and shared - which I have now put in a book for you to share and enjoy with the children you love.

Happy New Year!

Happy New Year! I hope 2024 is filled with opportunities for you to connect with the ones you love, build memories, and strengthen your love for one another!

Just for Fun - National Soup Month!

Yes, this month is National Soup Month! Since January tends to be a chilly month, I can not think of a better month to cook, eat, and enjoy  soup!

I looked on-line and found a site which has 31 soup recipes for, "31 Days of Soup"! I think I'll be making chili, chicken noodle, and beef noodle soup this month . . . . although we do also enjoy potato soup and pea soup as well.

Giant, Frozen Marbles!

Winter is here - whether there is snow on the ground, or not (here in Michigan, while typically there is snow on the ground at this time of year, this year there is not), it is still a great time to find fun things to do with the children we love. I do love Pinterest for the fun ideas I find on it. I thought I'd share with you one fun thing you might try. Granted, if you live where it is at least cold outside (again, in Michigan typically it is cold outside, but today will be in the 40's - not really all that cold) it will be easier to pull this off, but even if it is not cold and/or snowy outside where you live, this is still a fun activity you could try and one the children you love will never forget!

crafting with grandma - Life-Sized Drawings!

Quite a number of years ago when my sweet grandsons were younger and were at my house, we took large sheets of paper and had them lay on the paper, on the floor while I traced around them. They then got to work turning the drawing of him into, amazing things - such as themselves as Super Robots!!!!

Today is National Bacon Day!

If ever there was a special day to celebrate, today is the day as it is National Bacon Day! At my house, bacon is enjoyed from time to time . . . so celebrating National Bacon Day is something we will certainly want to do. Let's start our celebrating by looking at some very interesting, funny, and surprising bacon facts - did you know . . .

Making a Book with the Boys!

We all know how essential it is for the ones we love to become people who read. When my grandsons were young we spent many evenings reading books and also making up our own special stories, so one day when they were at my house for a sleep-over I had a special project in mind for them. My grandsons loved making up stories with me. From time to time they even turned one of their stories into a book for me; in fact, one of my favorite birthday presents ever was the book my oldest grandson made me titled - Super Josiah Saves Grandma from all the Robot Spiders in History!

So on this particular day we worked on a new story - The Jiggly Oreo Monster! My grandsons made up the story and illustrated it. The story involves a dragon which spits poison and a castle which is guarded by little Oreos and poison lightning! In the end, the hungry dragon eats the Oreo monster king and the Oreo guards! It is definitely a story written by boys!

Blankets, Love, & Prayers!

For Christmas 2013 I crocheted blankets for my grandsons, Josiah and Caleb. (I had just crocheted a blanket for baby Shane when he was born.) I knew it would take a fair amount of time to make both blankets, since I wanted them to be fairly large, but while I was pretty sure a five year old and a two year old would not be all that excited about opening blankets for Christmas, I still wanted them to have the blankets, so I made them.
