Today I'm happy to let you know about one more book in the series - Look What Lives in Asia! This is a picture book filled with full-color photos - two of each animal, and some interesting, fun facts about each one as well.

Summer Reading - Look What Lives in the Americas & Europe

As I shared over the past couple weeks, during covid my grandsons and I wrote 12 books about animals, so earlier this year I took the animals from these books and put together a series for young children (although everyone loves picture books about animals, so all ages will enjoy them!) Today I am happy to let you know about the book - "Look What Lives in the Americas & Europe".  This is a picture book filled with full-color photos - two of each animal, and some interesting, fun facts about each one as well.

Summer Reading - Created 'Just Right! Look What Lives in Australia & New Zealand

During COVID my grandsons and I put together the twelve books in the Life on the Goldilocks Planet series which help us see how animals show us God is real because He made everything "just right". In these books (which I have shared with you over the past couple weeks), you find full-color photos, fun facts, along with crafts, science projects, and recipes for the entire family to enjoy as they learn about the animals and discover how they help them have a confident faith. These books (The Life on the Goldilocks Planet series) are ideal for children ages four through fourteen - and the entire family.

But, since younger children enjoy picture books, I took animals from these books and combined them into six picture books which show animals and include just a couple of the fun facts for each animal to make books for younger children ages three through seven. These new books - "Created 'Just Right!'" are now available in both print and kindle ebook formats!  

Summer Reading - Narwhal's Sweet Tooth

As I wrote yesterday, Penguin/Random House Canada/Tundra sent me books for my Summer Reading Reviews. Today I'm happy to let you know about Narwhal's Sweet Tooth, by Ben Clanton. When my grandsons were young, the loved the books in the Narwhal and Jelly series, so when I saw this one, I knew I wanted to include it in my Summer Reading Reviews.

Summer Reading - Today is the Perfect Time to get Grasshopper Mice, Laughing Kookaburras, Jawfish & More!

    

Today I am happy to share about book 12 in the Life on the Goldilocks Planet book series -Grasshopper Mice, Laughing  Kookaburras, Jawfish & More! In this book you will find Grasshopper Mice, Glasswing Butterflies, Bee Hummingbirds, Servals, Laughing Kookaburras, Spectacled Bears, Cuban Painted Snails, Hooded Seals, Marbled Polecats, Keas, Jawfish, and Green Basilisk Lizards - which of these have you never heard of before? I was afraid I would not find interesting, surprising animals for the final book, but these are all very interesting and surprising - especially the Grasshopper Mice - yes, the Grasshopper Mice! They are fierce predators - even venomous spiders, scorpions, centipedes, and snakes are afraid, yes afraid of these tiny mice!

Summer Reading - Fluffle Bunnies - Buns Gone Bad

Yesterday I received a package of wonderful books from Penguin/ Random House Canada/Tundra and so for the coming week I will share about one book with you each day. As I have been saying, one of the best and most important things we are able to do for the children we love is to surround them with books from their youngest ages, read to and with them, because when we do they will begin talking sooner, they will have a larger vocabulary, will begin reading sooner, and will do better in school. Plus, all this reading and spending time together will help build strong relationships with you and the children you love.

So, this Summer be certain to surround the children you love with books - such as Fluffle Bunnies - Buns Gone Bad by Anna Humphrey and Irma Kniivila.

Summer Reading - Make it Easy & Fun to Learn about Surprising Animals with Aardvarks, Coelacanths, Colugos & More!

    

Have you ever heard of a Coelacanth? They were thought to be extinct - the oldest fossils of these fish date back 410 million years! But, imagine how surprised fishermen were when a live Coelacanth was discovered off the coast of South Africa in 1938! From time to time they are found, but not often as they live in deep waters.  Aside from still being alive, two more surprising things about Coelacanths are they typically live 100 years and mom Coelacanths are pregnant for five years! Yes,  five years! I'm SO glad I'm not a Coelacanth.

Make Time for What Really Matters

Yesterday I was thinking about when my grandsons were younger, they spent a lot of time at my house - sleepovers and when their parents were working. Now they are older, so while they still come over nearly every weekend for a sleepover (I am SO blessed!), they do not typically come over in the summer. However, the past couple weeks, on one of the days when both of their parents are working, my youngest grandson - nearly 11 - has wanted to spend the day at my house! Did I mention I am SO blessed!

Summer Reading - Teach the "Whys" with Jaguars, Lilac-Breasted Rollers, Nautiluses & More!

    

We parents and grandparents tend to do a decent job when it comes to teaching the "whats" - what the Bible says and therefore "what" we believe. But, we do not teach the "whys" - why we are able to believe God is real, the Bible is true, God and science DO go together, and God is good. When we do not teach the "whys" we open the door for someone to question what we believe and for the ones we love to turn away from their faith when they do not know the answers. We must teach the "whys" so they know the answers and are able to have a confident faith.

Pure Joy . . . & Raspberries!

Since yesterday I wrote about the National Day of Joy, today I'm happy to share with you about a time when there was much joy at this grandma's house. Years ago, decades ago, when we moved into the house we live in, my sister (who lived down the street and around the corner at the time) gave me several raspberry bushes to plant in our new backyard. Through the years these bushes produced many, many berries which were enjoyed by my children . . . and then my grandchildren.
