Just for Fun!!! Elephant Design!

When I look at the world around me I see detail, wonder, and design. It is impossible for me to believe it all "just happened" on its own, or one creature had the intelligence to determine it needed legs or wings or whatever to survive and the ability to just grow those things. I believe God designed  and created our world to evolve with all the wondrous creatures and beautiful features we can see today!

Having said this, did you know . . .

Today is Son & Daughter Day

I do not need a special day to be thankful for and to remember the joy my daughter, son, daughter-in-law, and grandsons bring to my life, but today is Son & Daughter Day . . . the day to celebrate our sons and daughters!

It also happens to be a great evening to watch the Perseid meteor shower and, since yesterday was also 'Smores Day, one way you might celebrate together is by making 'smores - it won't matter for it to be one day after 'Smores Day.

So, on this Sons & Daughters Day, let's take a moment to look at some interesting, fun facts - did you know . . .

Make a Difference this School Year by Praying Deeper, Together!

Praying for our grandchildren (and children) is something we all know we need to do, but it is also something with which many of us struggle. We may feel like our prayers do not even make it through the ceiling above us and do not know what to say or how to pray. Our lives are busy, so finding the time to pray oftentimes is a challenge which we may not overcome and then days go by without us spending time in prayer.

Yet, we know prayer is important. We know, especially in this day and age, we - and our grandchildren (and children) need all the prayer they can get. We want to be people who pray; and people who pray deeply, but are not sure how to be this kind of person.

Today is National Connecticut Day

If you, or someone you love/know lives in Connecticut, today is a day to celebrate! What makes Connecticut special? Well, we will look at some fun facts about this State, but first will check some of their silly laws - be sure to share with the children you love - my grandsons tend to enjoy hearing these when I share with them. Make a Difference for Generations with Generations Quest Cultivate the Faith!

When we hand down the faith, we watch for those unplanned opportunities to connect life with God, His Word and how we are able to know and walk with Him. But, we also need to plan opportunities to do these things in a very intentional and purposeful way as well. Handing down the faith tends to be something which we look forward to doing and enjoy, or something which leaves us feeling confused and unable to do effectively. Well, no matter which of these describes you, I am very happy today to let you know about a resource which gives you 52 lessons, complete with science projects, crafts and cooking activities to engage the children you love while also helping them learn about real people from the Bible, how those Bible people chose to walk with God and how they are able to do the same. This resource is called Generations Quest Cultivate the Faith!

Tomorrow - August 10th - is National Bowling Day!

Tomorrow is National Bowling Day so if the children you love are like my grandsons, then this is a day to celebrate for sure! Today, in fact, my grandsons all chose for us to bowl for our yearly "Day of Fun"! (We are also going out for lunch, then will be making tie dye shirts, and fudge!) At any rate, since bowling is enjoyed around here, I thought it would be fun to share some fun facts about bowling - did you know . . .

Today - August 8th - is International Cat Day

If you have a feline family member, then today is a day for you to celebrate as it is International Cat Day! Candy is the cat in the photo - she is our cat. Two years ago my grandsons went with their poppa and I to the Humane Society to get a cat - they chose her - or she chose us? Either way, she is the one who came home with us and we are very happy to have her as part of our family!

So, today I thought it would be interesting and fun to look at some cat facts, did you know . . .

Just for Fun!! Sea Anemones, Hermit Crabs, Watermelon, Corn & More!

When I look at the world around me I see a creation which is too amazing, too intentional for it to have just "happened" on its own. I am not able to ascribe an intelligence and incredible ability to creatures which allows them to determine they need legs, or opposable thumbs, or wings, or whatever to survive and then just "evolve" to have those things on their own. I'd love to be able to have wings so I can just fly quickly to wherever I need to be, but no matter how much I want wings, I'm never going to "evolve" and be able to grow them!

Creation is so specific, and amazing! There are creatures and plants which could not survive without the other; for example, did you know . . .

Skydiving . . . in Seven Years!

Today is my husband's and my 43rd anniversary - we met on an active volcano in Northern California! In seven years this will be me as we are going skydiving with our daughter, son, and three grandsons to celebrate our 50th anniversary! When this happens, we will join the two percent of grandparents who have been skydiving - it will be SO much fun!

Happiness Happens Month & Day & Fudge

August is, "Happiness Happens Month" and tomorrow - the 8th - is Happiness Happens Day. I personally think every month and day should be when we celebrate what makes us happy, but apparently August is a time to be sure to do so. So . . . take time today to bring happiness to your life and the lives of those you love.

Today - August 6th is National Wiggle Your Toes Day!

Did you know if you were to lose your thumb you could have it replaced with one of your toes? "When your big toe gets attached to the rest of your hand, it can accomplish many of the same activities your thumb could, including holding a pencil, eating food, and opening doors." I found this toe fun fact at the following  link and since today is National Wiggle Your Toes Day, I thought it would be fun to share some "toe facts"!

Things I Love About the 4N1 - a Unique Mobility Rollator/Chair

Miracle Mobility sent me their unique and award-winning 4N1 to review so I am able to try it out in a variety of settings and let you know all about it. If you or someone you love is experiencing mobility challenges, the 4N1 may be the perfect resource for you as it combines a rollator, electric wheelchair, a wheelchair others are able to push someone in, and a power assist chair into one amazing item! Today I will share a few of my observations about it so you are able to consider it for yourself or someone you love - it would make a fantastic gift for sure as it is actually the gift of mobility!

Grandparent's Day Gift Idea - The DNA of Grandparents & Parents Who Hand Down Confident Faith

If you are looking for a gift for a grandparent you love to help them make the most of handing down confident faith, consider this book - The DNA of Grandparents & Parents Who Hand Down Confident Faith.

In this book I look at how our physical DNA is a truly amazing and essential part of who we are, as it holds the "code" or instructions for the things which make us unique as well as for the things we share. It connects us with the generations who came before us; as well as with those who come behind. It is the core of who we are physically.

Upcoming Anniversary & an Important Example

My husband and I are just two days from celebrating our 43rd wedding anniversary! We met on an active volcano (Mt. Lassen in Northern California) and were married on my grandpa/ma Fullmer's 55th anniversary - both sets of my grandparents and my parents had long committed marriages. They all set the example for me of loving, honoring and cherishing my husband. I never one time heard my grandparents or parents say anything negative about each other - I think this is what the vows mean - or part of it - when we commit to love, honor, and cherish the one we marry. (This is an engagement photo of us on Mt. Lassen where we met, and a wedding photo . . . we were SO young!!!)
